Characters

The cast of characters for The Black Cat is listed below. The descriptions are fairly vague, both for the sake of brevity, as well as to keep from giving everything away. Nonetheless, the character's nature (if other than human) is generally listed, along with some indication of their temperament, abilities and goals. Characters are generally gender-neutral, so if you see something mismatched by gender that appeals, feel free to request it anyway.

Once most of these characters are filled, I will post a few extra characters, so that people always have some choice. I encourage people to send me a second and even third choice of character, in case your first choice is taken.

Alexander Rothman is the biggest mobster in Vancouver, a ruthless old-school "boss" and vampire who keeps his hands clear while maintaining interests in every sort of crime and vice around. The gang known as "Rothman's crew" is a group of street-level gangsters who run his extortion, drug and prostitution rackets in the downtown area. Recently, they've been challenged by a gang called the Demon Heads, and have come tonight to try and settle things.

David Rothman: Rothman's undead progeny and the head of the crew, he is smooth, urbane and ruthless, just like his sire. (Taken)

William Pike: David's second-in-command is more bloodthirsty and hot-tempered than Rothman. He has been known to be critical of Rothman's leadership, and ambitious to climb the ladder. (Taken)

Mary: This savage and bloodthirsty vampire is the muscle of the crew. Fast and wild, she leaves a trail of bodies when provoked. (Taken)

Candi Blood: Rothman's girlfriend, this undead vixen has an allure few can resist. She makes a great show of her infatuation with David, but some say that it's all an act. (Taken)

This street gang, mostly of Native blood, is notable for having little supernatural clout. They have carved out turf in the Upper Eastside and Downtown areas by being too tough to put down, and willing to do whatever's necessary to get ahead. They've cut a chunk out of the Rothman's turf, and have started a gang war with David Rothman's crew in the process. They're here to talk out a truce and establish their right to the territory in the process.

Three-Stripe: Named for the claw scars he bears on his face, Three-Stripe has fought for everything he has, and won by being too mean to back down and too stubborn to die before whoever gets in his way.

"Wall" Runningwolf: Three-Stripe's number two, and permanent bodyguard. This hulk of a man is strong and tough. In fact, he's so strong that some people say he's not human.

Michelle: A bit of an enigma, Michelle keeps her history and her plans to herself. A "street shaman" for hire, she has recently linked herself to the Demon Heads. (Taken)

Ray Black: A part-time thug and part-time drunk, Ray is actually an undercover officer for Vancouver's organized crime squad. He keeps tabs on the dirty side of the city, and when he finds trouble, he makes sure it gets what's coming to it. And if the crooks are beyond the law's reach? Ray'll chase 'em anyway. (Taken)

Adam: A mysterious stranger, Adam talks like a man out of another age. Of course, given that he is the ghost of a murdered man seeking a vengeance long-denied, that's not surprising. (Taken)

Angel: A cheap hooker willing to go with anyone desperate enough, Angel is a fixture in the Black Cat. She picks her dates for more than money though - it's lust she needs, and lust she feeds on. (Taken)

Andi: The Cat's bartender is also the go-between for the bar's mysterious owner. Apparently mundane, she's been able to hold her own before. Her boss has offered her services as arbitrator between the Rothmans and the Demon Heads. (Taken)

Jackson Rimes: A man of wealth and taste, here to collect on an old debt and maybe make a few new bargains. (Taken)

Andrew St. Onge: Why this local evangelist is drowning his sorrows in a seamy little hole-in-the-wall deep in the dangerous neighbourhoods of Vancouver is a question not even he has a good answer to.

Jane Briarly: When this young woman from the 'burbs got bit by something unnatural and savage, it made her a pariah. Now, the Black Cat is the only place she has left to go. (Taken)

Nicholas: Contract killer, and son of the unholy, the enigmatic Nicholas has rolled into town once again. What brings him here? It's always business, but whose?

Jack: The man who has everything for sale. Jack is a smooth-talking con artist whose line is a never-ending series of "ancient arcane artifacts". He has a couple for sale right now.

Mr. Long: A well-respected, dignified businessman with a secret. He has seen much over his long and wearisome centuries of life, and contacts in many places, some of them less than savory.

Bernard McKensie: A local alderman with a lean and hungry look. What brings him to the dankest hole in Vancouver?

Felicia Sable: A mysterious woman with connections to everyone.
